San Diego Leaders is looking for a researcher / data assistant to conduct big data studies to inform civic engagement plans, accountability, and reporting. This position requires a passionate individual who likes large scale data challenges, and the ability to be meticulous with a repetitive and tedious task. If you love to solve big data problems, and are innovate and creative, this is the right job for you. Candidates must be able to work independently with excellent communication skills. This role is primarily a data collection and processing position, and attention to detail is crucial. This position is contract based, and has flexible hours. Will report to a board on a weekly basis with progress.
Experience in data cleaning, processing, and management.
Proficiency in the scientific method, statistical analysis, spreadsheet software, and practical coding skills (Python, Matlab, R, SQL) desired.
Attention to detail and ability to maintain focus through long data-cleaning sessions
Experience and/or passion for research and methodology
Collaborate with partners to triage and resolve technical issues
Self-motivation to work under minimal supervision
Communicate complex technical solutions in clear, concise and easily readable format to both technical and non-technical personnel
Participates in a weekly call.
Translate research questions into data solutions
Conduct over the phone study sessions. Tasks include: data screening for research and evaluation
Self-motivated and enthusiastic with proven creative and critical thinking capabilities
Strong analytical skills and a curiosity to discover opportunities for impact
Keen interest in applying technologies to real world challenges
Education & Experience:
BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analysis, Statistics or Equivalent Preferred.
