What if the people most affected by displacement were the ones designing the future of land?
In our TEDxSanDiego talk, I share how that question became Global Village, PANA's planned cultural hub and housing campus for refugee and immigrant families. More than 2,000 community members helped shape a place where families can find affordable homes, build businesses, access services, and stay connected to their community.
Please watch it and share it with your networks as soon as you can. TED has told us the first 24 hours matter most for how widely the talk is seen, and every share introduces Global Village to people who may want to be part of its future.
Thanks to our community and early supporters, PANA has financed the land acquisition and predevelopment work, secured all necessary land use approvals, and begun construction drawings for building permits.
There is still important work ahead before we can put shovels in the ground. We anticipate financing construction through state and county sources, including low-income housing tax credits. Philanthropic commitments are what unlock that larger financing package.
To close the remaining gap, we are bringing together a Global Village Founding Circle. Its members will be our founding villagers, helping carry this vision from approved plans to construction.
