Emergency Legal Fund Appeal
PANA normally has a revolving emergency fund of $30,000. We have depleted these resources and need your urgent support to replenish our emergency funds.
This morning, our Immigration Legal Director, Maria Chavez shared the story of a confused father who missed his court date and in his absence, was ordered deported. Because his little girl is attached to his case, she will be deported with him.
This order increases the likelihood that ICE will detain them and deport them to their country of birth. Their chance to stay together rests on a Motion to Reopen, which we can file before they are required to report to ICE on October 2nd.
The filing fee is $1,045—a financial barrier for the family, but a small price to keep a child and her father united. Immigration court fees were recently increased due to Trump’s Big Ugly Bill (HR 1).
A donation to the Emergency Legal Fund today ensures no one is deported simply because they can't afford a fee.
Donate now to give this family and so many others their day in court.
In solidarity,
Ramla Sahid
