The San Diego Children's Fund by San Diego for Every Child is administered by Child Development Associates and YMCA Childcare Resource Service.
Who can apply?
Families and licensed child care providers in San Diego County who received an invitation to participate in this grant due to the recent COVID-19 outbreak.
with low to no income and/or essential workers who lost their child care services and/or need extended child care hours.
Licensed child care providers who need assistance to remain open and provide a healthy environment for children.
Grants
Grants available for eligible families to support the cost of: child care services, food, and diapers.
Grants available for licensed child care providers to support the cost of: food, cleaning supplies, utility bills, and wages to keep child care business open.
Grants will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, meeting eligibility, and as funds are available.You may only apply once.

"Grab and Go" School Meals
All children, regardless of age or immigration status, can receive "grab and go" meals during school and child care closures. Parents/guardians are able to pickup meals without the need to have children present. The Families First Coronavirus Response Act (H.R. 6201), signed into law March 18th, allows states to implement Pandemic EBT. Under the program, families whose children are eligible to receive free or reduced priced meals and whose schools have closed due to COVID-19 will receive an EBT card loaded with the cash value of the meals their children would have received at school. Immigration status is not a factor in qualifying for the program. State administrators are working to establish Pandemic EBT in California. We will provide updates as they come.Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)
WIC provides healthy meals and support services for pregnant women, new parents, and children under five years of age. WIC services are safe, do not ask for immigration status, and are not considered under the new public charge test. This means immigrant families affected by this crisis can use WIC without fear it will impact their immigration status.
During this crisis, WIC locations have new procedures to help families get benefits as quickly as possible. To learn more about these and other flexibilities, see Resources for Young Children.
Chromebooks for SDUSD students | NEW alpha list of pick up locations
This update includes the addition of an alpha list of all SDUSD schools and their assigned pick up dates/locations and highlights other key info:
When: Chromebooks are being distributed now through April 24.
Who: Chromebooks will be loaned out to any TK-12 student enrolled at an SDUSD school who does not have a computer or tablet at home.
Why: SDUSD is committed to making the new "distance learning" accessible to all.
Distribution: Seven high schools will be distribution sites for clusters of other schools nearby. Chromebooks are loaned out and must be returned at the end of the school year. All Chromebooks have been disinfected.
How: Parents may use this link for complete instructions on how to pick up a Chromebook and opportunities about free or discounted Internet: https://bit.ly/2JPDNSt. Encourage parents to visit this link and read all info before picking up a Chromebook. This link includes what parents must bring to a pick-up location and other important procedures for drive up or walk up distribution. Parents must pick up for elementary school children. Middle and high school students may pick up on their own or parents may do so.

SDUSD has been sending out reminders to parents about this distribution, but some may have missed those communications, so please share with any parents with children enrolled at an SDUSD school who might be interested in this resource.
