#PaycheckPowerHour

PANA was thrilled to host the 3rd San Diego Power Hour panel series focussing on income inequality and promising policies to address it: #PaycheckPowerHour.

Huge turnout and huge Twitter activity! Special thanks to our panelists Fanik Jama, Nora E. Vargas, Norma Rodriguez, and Timothy Roscoe Carter. Also thanks to Scott Lewis of Voice of San Diego, Emily Serafy Cox, Super Cocina, SDG&E, and all the PANA volunteers for making the event happen!

Income inequity in San Diego

If you know about income inequity in San Diego, you've probably heard about "below the 8": how Interstate 8 symbolically divides the city into two regions: with a heavy concentration of wealth in north county, and stark concentrations of poverty in the south.

What's the vision, and what's next?

The topics of the night are two policy agendas: the ongoing fight for a higher minimum wage and related growing global movement for the promising, more root-cause policy known as basic income. Our diverse panel has rich experience in San Diego and California relating to this work from various backgrounds and perspectives.
